GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS OF HIRE

IMPORTANT NOTE: IF A CREDIT CARD IS NOT PRESENTED UPON PICKUP THE CLIENT WILL BE DENIED TO RENT THE CAMERVAN AND FULL CANCELLATION FEES WILL BE APPLIED.

DAILY HIRE RENTAL RATE QUOTE INCLUDES
Unlimited Kilometres
Goods & Services Tax (GST) of 15%
Standard Backpacker Vehicle Insurance
Cleaning fees and pre departure vehicle preparation
24 hour roadside assistance throughout New Zealand
Free rental bicycle hire at selected Top 10 Holiday Parks
Vehicle living equipment (not including linen and bedding)
Road Maps, Camping Park Directories and other tourist information
Customer care 24 hour 7 days per week road service helpline (toll free)
Free transfers on vehicle pick up from Airport to the Backpacker Depot

ONE-WAY RENTALS
One-way rental Fee of NZ$210 is payable where pick up is between the 1st of October and the 31st of March. This applies to hires from the North Island to the South Island and vice versa. Rentals between the Auckland Beach Rd location and the Auckland Mangere location incur a NZ$60 one-way fee.
This applies in either direction and all season.

LOCATION FEE PICK UP/DROP OFF FEES
A location fee of NZ$210 applies to all campervans picking up or dropping off in Wellington or Queenstown. If the pick-up and drop off occurs in the same city, only one location fee will apply. One-way rental fees will apply if applicable.

SECURITY DEPOSIT OR REDUCTION OPTIONS

INSURANCE OPTIONS
STANDARD RATE (minimum level of insurance and already included in the quoted rate). Standard rate leaves you still to pay a Security Deposit of NZ$3,500 (Debited and refunded if no claims) or options as below can be taken to reduce bond/excess. (Options are payable at the depot except All Inclusive which should be booked when reserving the vehicle).

Insurance option with Standard Rate:
Excess Reduction 1: NZ$18 per day reduces Security Deposit to NZ$1500 (debited)
*Excess Reduction 2: NZ$28 per day reduces Security Deposit to NZ$220 (Credit Card imprint only)

From April 2012:
Insurance option with Standard Rate:
Excess Reduction 1: NZ$20 per day reduces Security Deposit to NZ$1500 (debited)
*Excess Reduction 2: NZ$30 per day reduces Security Deposit to NZ$220 (Credit Card imprint only)

Tyre and Windscreen Cover
NZ$5 per day. Cover for these items can be purchased in addition to Excess reduction Option 2, or is included in the Smart Pack. It will cover you for unlimited windscreen and trye accidental damage.

SMART PACK INSURANCE - FULL INSURANCE PLUS BENEFITS
NZ$36 per day ($38 from 1 April 2012) (maximum NZ$1800, NZ$1900 from 1 April 2012) for Smart pack Insurance and should be booked when reserving vehicle - Click under "Model' to choose option
Smart Pack includes: Excess Reduction Option 2 - Diesel Tax Recovery Costs - LP Gas Refill Camping Stools (1 per person travelling) - Extra driver fee - Tyre and windscreen cover - Portable heater - Snow chains

CREDIT CARD FEES FOR FINAL PAYMENT
Credit Card fees are applied to any payments made at the Backpacker Depot

EXTRA DRIVER FEE
Extra drivers will be charged $5 per day, per additional driver, per rental. Extra driver fee is included in Smart Pack

COURTESY TRANSFERS
For airport transfers, Backpackers operate a courtesy shuttle. Full details will be on your motorhome confirmation.
Queenstown and Wellington Depots do not offer transfers however Queenstown Depot is at the Airport.

MINIMUM HIRE PERIOD
The minimum hire period is 5 days
NOTE MINIMUM HIRE PERIOD 23 DECEMBER TO 10 JANUARY IS 10 DAYS
MINIMUM HIRE PERIOD TRAVELLING NORTH TO SOUTH BETWEEN OCTOBER THROUGH MARCH IS 10 DAYS

DRIVERS LICENSES
All drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a full and current New Zealand driver's licence, or an International Driving Licence, or a licence from the country of origin with English translation.

BOOKING AMENDMENTS WITH FLEX RATES
A NZ$25 fee will apply to amend a flex booking. If a change to a flex booking is made then the booking will be calculated by using the original flex rate if the hire is being extended. If the hire length is being reduced and/or a change of location then and the flex rate has increased then this higher rate will be applied.

Baby Capsules: Recommended for children newborn to 6 months (approximately). Baby capsules not permitted in this motorhome.
Baby Seats: Recommended for children 6 months to 3 years or 8 to 18kg (approximately), must be able to support own head in a sitting position.
Booster Seats: Recommended for children: 4 to 7 years or 14 to 26kg (approximately). A booster seat enables a child to use a standard 3-point seatbelt that fits across the chest. Please note that in some motorhomes, the seatbelts in the main cabin are lap belts (i.e. they only come across the lap).

This vehicle can only accommodate the following child safety seats: Booster seat only. Child seats (approximate age 3 years and under) can not be fitted to this vehicle. While a booster seat (approximate age 4 years and over) can be fitted to the front passenger seat using a 3 point safety belt, Backpacker recommend that for safety, a Backpacker Quattro is considered when traveling with a child.
